Under the theme Inspiration from Exploration, the Opening Ceremony will feature keynote presentations, awards recognitions, a nod to AAPG’s Centennial, and a medley of West End-inspired musical numbers. General Co-Chairs, Gabor Tari and Ken McClay will officially open the conference, followed by a warm welcome and 100th Anniversary remarks from AAPG President, Charles Sternbach.

Four outstanding geoscientists will be recognized for their achievements in exploration, education, research and public service as recipients of the firstever AAPG Europe Awards. AAPG Europe Region President Fiona MacAulay will challenge you to help inspire future generations of explorationists, while celebrating the actions and accomplishments of this year’s honorees. 

The program culminates with presentations from two engaging keynote speakers. ICE Honorary Chair, Jonathan Craig, will introduce Lord John Browne, speaking on the future of energy, and planetary geologist Kirsten Siebach, sharing her passion and work on Mars sedimentology.

The Icebreaker Reception in the Exhibition Hall immediately follows the Opening. The reception is a great place to find and network with colleagues and get a first glance at the exhibits.
